PASCAGOULA, Miss. — A three year project came to an end Thursday when Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula handed over the America to the US navy.
The America is an amphibious ship, meaning it sails and carries planes.
This July, over a thousand sailors and marines will set sail around South America to dock the ship in San Francisco. Along the way, the America will stop at ports to help out with training exercises with other countries’ military.
