An infant has been brought to safety after allegedly being taken by a man believed to be his father.
On Thursday, the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office reported that 2-month-old A’Marion Nason had gone missing and was believed to have been abducted in Holcomb by 31-year-old Anthony Mitchell. The subject is said to have assaulted Nason’s unidentified mother before taking the child.
One day later, officials announced a multi-agency search to locate the infant. At that point, the last possible location for Nason was in Greenwood. Law enforcement placed a special emphasis on locating Nason due to a medical condition that the child has which requires him to take regular medication.
Police reported the news on Saturday that Nason had been returned to his mother’s home, though the child’s condition was troubling. Nason was left on the doorstep of the residence in a plastic box wrapped in a red blanket, wearing a Ziploc bag as a diaper, according to the sheriff’s office.
First responders rushed to the scene to administer care to the child. Mitchell is wanted for domestic violence and is expected to face additional charges.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.
