WEST POINT, Miss. — A 2-month-old boy has died from a drug overdose and his mom is charged with capital murder.
The Mississippi Crime Lab confirmed Monday that Brinson Smith died from a lethal dose of codeine. The Clay County Sheriff Department ruled the death a homicide and arrested the child’s mom, Brittania Smith, 24. She is being held at the Clay County jail waiting for an arraignment. The case is expected to be given to the next grand jury.
