JACKSON, Miss. – At least two people were killed on state roads patrolled by the Mississippi Highway Patrol over the Fourth of July Holiday Enforcement Period.
“This was a substantial decrease in fatalities due to the fact of seven being recorded for the 2014 Fourth of July Period,” said Lt. Johnny Polulos, public affairs director.
Troopers also wrote 4,333 tickets, including 125 DUI arrests and investigated 138 traffic accidents over the four day holiday weekend which ended Sunday at midnight.
