The search process is underway for the new Ole Miss Chancellor. The board of trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning has selected 39 members, representing a cross-section of the University of Mississippi campus community, to serve on the Campus Search Advisory Committee. Dr. Charles Hussey, Alumnus, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and alumna Robyn Tannehill, Mayor of Oxford, will serve as Co-Chairs of the Committee.

This comes eight months after former Chancellor Jeffery Vitter stepped down from the position. Vitter was named to the position in 2016 following the messy departure of former Chancellor Dan Jones. Vitter never provided a reason for his departure and instead said he would remain on staff as a faculty member.
The committee will meet on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. in Salon A-B of the Ballroom at the Inn at Ole Miss to discuss the Chancellor search. An Executive Session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
