The husband of a missing Edwards woman has been charged with murder as investigators continue to search for the location of the body.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones announced on Thursday that 36-year-old Michael Owens has been charged with the murder of 36-year-old Ebony Owens and is facing other charges.
Investigators say that a search for Ebony Owens began after she did not show up for work on Wednesday. The 36-year-old’s vehicle was also discovered in the area of Old Highway 80 and Jones Road. It had been burned. Authorities believe the vehicle was burned intentionally.
The investigation continued, leading Hinds County deputies and Ridgeland police to Ridgeland Ranch Apartments on County Line Road Wednesday evening. Evidence connected to Owens’ disappearance was later discovered at the apartment complex.
Despite the body not being found as of now, Sheriff Jones says investigators believe Ebony Owens passed away as a result of a gunshot wound.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office are collaborating and searching areas around the Big Black River on Old Highway 80 between the Hinds and Warren County lines to find the body of Ebony Owens.
