The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is sending over $1 million to Mississippi to help those seeking financial independence.
As part of a $44 million nationwide allocation, $1,105,912 has been granted to the following housing authorities in Mississippi:
- Choctaw Housing Authority – $140,662
- Meridian Housing Authority Housing Development Corporation – $478,500
- Natchez Housing Authority – $239,250
- Okolona Housing Authority – $247,500
“At HUD, part of our work includes empowering people to navigate everyday challenges,” HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman said. “The funding announced today provides a foundation for personal and financial growth that will help families achieve their goals and attain economic justice.”
Mississippi’s portion of the allocation came through the Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Coordinator Program, which provides funding to hire and maintain service coordinators. These coordinators assess the needs of residents in conventional public housing or tribal housing and coordinate available community, public, and private resources to meet those needs.
