JACKSON, Miss. – According to several new studies, the 2016 presidential election has caused a lot of stress for Americans.
In one study by the American Psychological Association, one in four U.S. employees, of all political preferences, report negative effects of election discussions at work. In the study, 20 percent of American workers say they don’t talk to certain colleagues anymore because of their political views.
Consequences of this stress is expected to reduce productivity and lower the quality of work.
The presidential election isn’t just stressful to those at work. More than half of Americans say that this year’s election is a source of somewhat significant stress in their lives.
According to the Pew Research Center, only 10 percent of Americans are excited about the upcoming election.
