JACKSON, MISS– Temperatures are expected to reach the low-to-mid 90s statewide Sunday.
Late afternoon storms Saturday did provide a cut in the humidity, bringing heat indices down in parts of the state, but there will still be high levels of moisture in the air in the Delta, making strenuous outdoor activity dangerous if proper precautions are not taken.
Heat indices along the Mississippi River and up through the Delta are expected to reach 105-108. For the remainder of the state, there is limited threat of those heat indices, according to the National Weather Service.
Tonight, lows are expected to drop into the 70’s as afternoon showers sweep in to cool everything down for the night. Monday, rain chances linger through the day, increasing for south Mississippi.
