JACKSON, Miss.- Joining a few other counties in the state, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department has issued body cameras for all of their deputies.
The 60 cameras cost about $31,000, but is paid for through drug bust money or recovery funds.
A new policy says the deputies need to start recording as soon as they interact with someone.
“We wanted the public to know that we are continuing to be good stewards of the public’s money.” Sheriff Tyrone Lewis told WJTV, “We thought it was important for us that we earn and keep the public’s trust.”
