JACKSON, Miss. – Tuesday, Hinds County Republican Party chairman Pete Perry reaffirmed the statement he gave weeks ago, saying that there were around 300 to 350 possible illegal crossover votes in Hinds County during the June 24 Senate runoff. This time he said representatives from both the Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel campaigns have both examined the counties ballots and came up with a number within that range too.
“Last time it was my opinion, this time they have done the examination and they have come up with that opinion,” said Perry.
This reaffirmed estimated number of irregular votes is still significantly lower than the McDaniel campaign’s assertion that there were over 1,500 irregular votes in the state’s largest county.
Wednesday, McDaniel said he would announce whether or not he would formally challenge his loss to Cochran.
