The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has decided on a company to manage Jackson’s main water treatment facility just six days after announcing that they were hiring.
Hemphill Construction, a Florence-based business, has been awarded over $1 million for a 60-day contract to facilitate the response at the O.B. Curtis water treatment plant.
Tasks such as identifying potential treatment plant vulnerabilities and assisting with the preparation of a resiliency plan for the future of the O.B. Curtis plant will be performed by Hemphill.
Hemphill was chosen over two other firms that submitted bids to MEMA. One was Fortis Construction in Pearl and the other was The Lemoine Company from Lafayette, La.
