JACKSON, MISS– The National Weather Service said that late afternoon showers could break the intense heat that has settled over the Magnolia State for the past week on Saturday.
Through the Delta and Central Mississippi, heat advisories are in place until 7pm. The potential for showers and thunderstorms will increase throughout the day.
“These storms could be strong to severe,” said David Cox, Meteorologist for the NWS. “But the real deal is that it breaks this dome of pressure and moisture that has sat over the state the last few days.”
High temps statewide are still in the 90s for Saturday and Sunday, but significantly less humidity in the atmosphere will bring the heat indices down. However, the heat advisories could return Tuesday
