Jackson, Miss– The main point of the forecast across the state today is the dangerous heat that will blanket the state for the next two days.
West Mississippi getting the brunt of it as heat indices touch nearly 110. From Natchez up and over to Greenwood and down into Simpson county will really feel the heat. East Mississippi is having extreme heat but not as severe as heat indices hit 105.
Heavy heat sticks around Friday as well with the most dangerous temps of this heat wave spreading like a wet ooze across the Delta. The heat holding Natchez up and over into Columbus in a hot horseshoe of heat advisories over the state with Vicksburg up to Pittsboro and down through South Mississippi getting the cooler temperatures with heat indices at 105.
A few tips to tackling the heat: Stay hydrated, avoid heavy outdoor activities, and make sure the kids are out of the backseat before you leave the car.
