GULFPORT, Miss.- Harrison County Supervisor William Martin was found in his bed on Thursday, as a result of an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The death was ruled a suicide after a note was found with the body, though officials have not yet released the details of the note. This came shortly after Martin was indicted on federal bribery and obstruction of justice charges.
Evidently there was a warrant out for his arrest, after failing to appear at a scheduled meeting with officials Thursday morning at 8 a.m. The indictment came in connection with former Superintendent Kim Savant, who plead guilty to a corruption charge linked to the Harrison County Utility Authority in December. Savant is still awaiting sentencing.
Martin had served as Harrison County District 4 Supervisor since 1999.
