HARRISON COUNTY, Miss– The two people killed in Monday’s helicopter crash just off Highway 67 in Saucier have been identified. photo from NBC News
The pilot was Brandon Ricks, 40. The passenger killed was Steven Cobb, 55.
An investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board says it could take up to a year to know the cause of the crash.
Alongside the NTSB, Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan is helping the investigators with their research. “It’s a thorough, long-term investigation to look at all factors and interview everybody who may have information,” Chief Sullivan told WLOX News.
Investigators have learned that there were no calls for help coming from the helicopter. The autopsies show the men died after the crash from smoke inhalation and multiple blunt force hits.
“Neither one of the men that perished in that crash were able to get out of that aircraft,” says Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove, “that’s all I’m going to say about that.”
