JACKSON, MISS– The author of “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “Go Set A Watchman” has died at the age at 89.
Lee’s work was critiqued as encapsulating the Old South and the legal battles during the Civil Rights movement.
“To Kill A Mockingbird” was published in 1960 and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. In 1962, it became a movie.
From 1961 to 2015, Lee fans were left in waiting for “Go Set A Watchman.” This book was not as well accepted, as many were (*SPOILER ALERT*) furious over Scout’s father, Atticus Finch, joining the Ku Klux Klan.
Lee passed this morning in her home in Monroeville, Alabama.
