Tate Reeves has received an early endorsement in his run for Governor.
Former Congressman Gregg Harper recently returned from D.C. after representing Mississippi’s Third Congressional District, and he has endorsed Reeves in the early stages of the 2019 race for Governor.
“Tate Reeves is a conservative fighter who will stand up for Mississippi values,” Harper said. “Tate grew up and raises his family here in Rankin County. He has a strong record of cutting taxes and getting government out of the way so Mississippi’s economy can grow. I strongly support him for Governor.”
While thanking Harper for his support, Reeves said that he provided a model of how to fight for Mississippians.
“As a fellow conservative from Rankin County, I am honored to have earned the support of my friend Congressman Gregg Harper,” said Reeves. “Gregg fought for Mississippians in Washington, and he knows I will stand with President Trump and fight for all Mississippians here at home.”
Reeves faces opposition in the GOP as he’ll campaign against State Rep. Robert Foster ahead of the August primary. Foster recently announced a statewide farm tour as part of his campaign. During his announcement, Reeves stated that he’ll also tour the state, but he’ll wait until after the 2019 Legislative session ends.

“I am going to finish the job voters elected me to do as lieutenant governor – guarding the taxpayers’ dollars and implementing strong conservative policy,” Reeves said.
For the Demoncrats, current AG Jim Hood and former JSU official and Army veteran Velesha P. Williams are the announced candidates.
