A Mississippi Gulf Coast teen has been taken into custody after breaking into a home, and then later returning to the scene to retrieve his wallet.
On Tuesday just after noon, officers with the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 2400 block of 31st Street about a possible burglary of a residence.
Police were able to identify 18-year-old Amare Armon Sullivan as the suspect due to him leaving his wallet on the scene, which contained his Mississippi identification card.
Law enforcement was called back to the residence just over an hour later after Sullivan was observed back at the scene and inside the residence.
Sullivan fled through the apartment and jumped from the second-story window once police arrived at the location. Officers were able to apprehend Sullivan and place him in custody.
“The officers rolled in 4 to 5 deep and quick, at which point, I knew that I could not escape,” Sullivan said while being interviewed by police.
He is charged with one count of burglary of a residence and is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
