Update: After Gulfport Police Officers and a SWAT Team surrounded a home on Tuesday, an armed man inside committed suicide.
Sergeant Clayton Fulks with the GPD confirmed that after several hours and attempts to make contact with the man inside of the home, he was eventually found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. The standoff occurred at a home near Jones Avenue and 22nd Street.
In a tweet from the GPD during the situation, they stated that the man may have been suffering from “mental issues.”

The Gulfport Police Department is currently on the scene outside of a home where a man with a gun is possibly suffering from “mental issues”. Reports indicate that there is no one else inside of the home at this time.
Units are on scene in the area of Jones Ave and 22nd St in reference to a report of a armed person displaying mental issues inside of a residence. Please avoid this area. We will update as situation develops.
