WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker have announced that the city of Gulfport and the Gulfport-Biloxi airport will receive $3,893,247 in federal funding to improve economic development within the community.
“I am pleased that we are working to enhance our Gulf Coast with these federal grants, which will aid local housing developments, improve airport infrastructure, and promote safety,” said Wicker.
The largest of the grants will provide over $3 million for runway rehabilitation at the Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program will support that 5,500 update to maintain structure integrity, minimize debris, and increase passenger safety.
“These grants are investments in Gulfport and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.” Cochran said. “This funding, with its focus on economic and community development, can benefit businesses and families throughout the reign.”
The city will receive an additional #306,931 grant from the HUD HOME program with aids in funding to help governments implement housing strategies to promote home ownership.
