GULFPORT, Miss.–A woman was shot and killed in Gulfport Saturday night about 7 and the man she was with is in the hospital. Police arrested three other men, charging them with murder. They are still looking into why the shooting happened.
The dead woman is Anessia Nicole Daniels, 43. The man who was taken to the hospital is Greg Daniels, 25. They were mom and son.
John Minter, 25, Karlos Otis, 22 and Catrell Agee, 20, were quickly locked up by Gulfport Police. It was unclear just what led to the shooting, but the men face multiple charges, including murder and cocaine possession, with intent to distribute.
Meanwhile, there was more violence in Gulfport Sunday at noon at the Ashton Park Apartments when three men got into a shootout. Robert Johnson, 18, is dead and police think he may have been who pulled a gun first.
WLOX TV reports that police think he and Tevon Johnson started an argument with a man, followed him home, pulled a gun and started shooting at the third man.
The third man pulled his own gun and shot back, killing Robert Johnson. He is not under arrest.
Tevon Johnson was arrested, charged with aggravated assault. He is out on bond.
