GULFPORT, Miss. – The Gulfport Music Festival may not be happening this year. The festival’s financial backer, Alpha Media Biloxi, says the festival will definitely not be happening in May but fall 2015 could be a possibility. They will not know for certain until next week.
Alpha Media Biloxi says are going through a restructuring process because of the rising cost of musical acts and not having enough sponsors to support them. They want to avoid concertgoers paying $200 or more for a ticket.
In October 2011 Gulfport City Council approved a five year contract to hold the festival at Jones Park. Since, acts like Maroon 5, 311, Wiz Kahlifa, and Kid Rock have taken the stage.
