A teenager on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has been taken into custody in connection to two killings.
Officers with the Gulfport Police Department arrested Lawrence Blair Corley IV, 17, on Wednesday and charged him with two counts of capital murder. Police confirmed that the charges are in connection to a deadly shooting that happened earlier this week.
According to GPD, Corley and two others – Temi Lawal and Lorenzo Stennis – were allegedly trying to rob a home on 27th Street on May 13. The homeowner is said to have caught the three alleged criminals and shot both Lawal and Stennis. While Lawal died at the home, Corley drove Stennis to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Since Corley was allegedly involved in the robbery that ended in two deaths, the teenager was charged with capital murder, which is defined as “first-degree murder with special circumstances.”
GPD added that the homeowner will not be charged for his role in the shooting.
