GREENVILLE, Miss. – The Greenville School District is under the microscope after videos surfaced last week of a student being pulled by their hair by what appeared to be a teacher.
Since then, confirmation has come that the person in question was in-fact an employee of Greenville High School, however, the identity of the student involved has not been released for privacy reasons.
“We were shocked by those videos, we do believe there are multiple videos besides just the ones on social media,” said Everett Chin, Public Relations Specialist for the school district.
However, Chinn later confirmed that a meeting was called suddenlyon Monday night among the Board of Trustees, and at one point executive members called for a private session.
“The Board of Trustees went into a closed executive session to discuss a personnel matter regarding the discipline of a teacher, after the two hour closed session the Board returned to an open session and stated that no action was taken,” said Chinn.
No details of that meeting and the teacher in question can be confirmed.
Chinn stated that the school board was working with local law enforcement, and the Mississippi Department of Education, to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
