Greenville High School teacher fired after dragging student by hair

GREENVILLE, Miss.- The Greenville Public School District’s Board of Trustees has voted to remove Linda Winters-Johnson from her position after a video surfaced of her dragging a student across the floor by her hair.

The videos (can be seen below) show Winters-Johnson dragging a special-needs student by her hair across the gym floor at Greenville High School. According to local media, Winters-Johnson is accused of “grabbing, hitting in the head, and dragging of a special-needs student during P.E. class at Greenville High School”

The incident occurred around Sept. 21. The decision to suspend or revoke her teaching license will be made by the commission on Nov. 4.

The Superintendent Leeson Taylor has also been placed on administrative leave with pay.

News Mississippi has reached out the the local police and Greenville School District for comment and will update when more comes available.
