The grandson of a couple killed in Indianola on Saturday has been arrested and charged with murder.
Around 12:45 p.m., three people were killed at a home on Janet Davis Circle. When police arrived on the scene, they found two of the deceased outside the home and one inside. After a brief pursuit, they arrested Alton Williams, 36, on 4th Street.
Law enforcement confirmed on Sunday that the victims were Steve Scott, 76, Sarah Scott, 73, and Vanessa Hollins, 65. Williams is the grandson of the Scotts. Hollins is believed to have been the best friend of Sarah.
The Williams family released the following statement:
“There are no words to express the heartbreak and loss we feel from the tragic deaths of Steve, Sarah, and Vanessa. They were our father, mother, grandparents, uncle, aunts, cousins, and dear friend. They were beloved for their dedication to us and this community. We’ve all seen the devastation that mental health-related tragedies have brought to so many families across the country, and now, it’s at our front door. Despite our efforts and love, the unforeseen has taken place. We ask for your prayers and for privacy as we work through this with the Lord.”
