JACKSON, Miss.- Third man arrested for trying to sneak contraband into the downtown Jackson jail.
Sheriff Tyrone Lewis told WLBT TV they arrested two men on the scene and the third man was turned into police by his own grandfather.
Sheriff Tyrone Lewis said the men were caught before they were able to bring the contraband into the jail. Deputies found contraband on Joshua Ledbetter, 24, and Dominique Griffin, 25, when they were arrested late Tuesday night.
Kimandre Davis was able to get away, deputies said.
Davis, who is believed to be the driver of the car, ran from the scene and went to his grandfather’s home. Sheriff Lewis says the suspect tried to tell his grandfather that his car was stolen from him.
The suspect was then turned in to police by his grandfather and arrested.
The sheriff says they confiscated cigarettes, marijuana, spice, a weapon, roll papers and lighters.
This is the fifth contraband bust at the downtown detention center in the last eight days.
