To help celebrate Mardi Gras, Grammy Museum Mississippi in Cleveland will be hosting a free “Family Day” event on Saturday, March 15.
The event, which will span from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., covers admission to the museum and includes an educational program with Grammy-winning artist Terrance Simien, a Krewe Kids parade, a chance to make Mardi Gras masks, and plenty of bead toss games. Food vendors will be set up on-site with snacks and beverages for purchase.
“We are so thrilled to celebrate Mardi Gras season with a special free Family Day event at [Grammy Museum Mississippi],” executive director Emily Havens said. “We welcome everyone in Cleveland and the surrounding areas to come out for what will be a fantastic day of music, art, and games. We’re excited to have Grammy winner zydeco musician Terrance Simien here to provide a special Creole workshop experience for kids.”

Simien’s portion of the event will be called “Creole4Kidz!” and include musical guidance from the eighth-generation Louisianan. Simien is a zydeco musician whose group, The Zydeco Experience, won the Grammy for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album in 2008 and Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2014.
The event is being supported by Delta Arts Alliance, Mississippi Arts Commission, Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, and King’s Daughters and Sons Circle Number 2.
