Grammy Museum Mississippi is celebrating Black History Month with a slate of unique programming that includes a trio of special screenings and free admission to the museum three weekends in a row.
“We are thrilled to announce we will once again celebrate Black History Month with a slate of special screenings, events, and free admission at Grammy Museum Mississippi,” Grammy Museum Mississippi executive director Emily Havens said.
Screenings will include the 1997 film Cinderella (Feb. 9), starring Whitney Houston and Brandy, with other movies to hit the big screen at the museum this month being If Beale Street Could Talk (Feb. 16) and Black Panther (Feb. 23). The latter two were released in 2018 and won a combined four Academy Awards.
Additionally, Grammy Museum Mississippi will host “An Evening with David Porter” on Feb. 13. Porter is one of the most renowned African American songwriters of his generation, penning hits for James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Notorious B.I.G., and a long list of other artists. This is the only paid event of the month, with tickets going for $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
