Governor Tate Reeves says he will sign an Executive Order today which provides further guidance to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in Mississippi.
Reeves said the order instructs Mississippians to avoid non-essential gatherings of 10 or more. Following the lead of the Mississippi State Department of Health, the order also instructs all restaurants and bars to suspend dine-in services but allows for drive-through, pick up, or delivery.
Reeves said, “It directs Mississippians not to visit hospitals, nursing homes, or long term care facilities, again working to protect the most vulnerable populations.”
According to Reeves, the Executive Order will also direct businesses to allow every possible employee to work from home and will ultimately define essential businesses.
Reeves said, “It will also give clear guidance to our partners at the local level should they decide to take additional action in their communities.”
Today, the number of COVID-19 cases grew by 71 to a total of 320. So far, 1, 872 total individuals have been tested for COVID-19. Testing is increasing across the state.

He was joined by State Health Officer, Dr. Thomas Dobbs, MEMA Director Greg Michel, Major General Durr Boyles with the Mississippi National Guard, and Colonel Chris Gillard and Colonel Bobby Ginn with the Mississippi Highway Patrol
