As Mississippi prepares for the upcoming legislative session, a clearer picture of the fiscal budget for 2018 is beginning to come into focus. Governor Bryant posted a message to his Facebook page stating that they have passed a revenue estimate that benefits Mississippi families.
We adopted a conservative revenue estimate today for the upcoming fiscal year. Like I have repeatedly said, we will emulate hardworking Mississippi families and spend only the money that we have, while continuing to grow our savings. In fact, just today we transferred $8.8 million to the Rainy Day Fund, as a result of my agenda from the special legislative session in June.
What you will not read in the media is in the last six years, state government spending has grown almost $1 billion. We have done this while keeping our promise to cut taxes.
