This morning Governor Phil Bryant was made aware of a situation involving the executive director of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Lee Smithson.
As a result, Gov. Bryant accepted Smithson’s resignation this afternoon.
MEMA External Affairs Director Greg Flynn said he was surprised by this and has not received a statement from Smithson.
The nature of the situation has not been released.
