Gov. Tate Reeves has issued an update as Francine continues to move through Mississippi.

In a social media post, Reeves confirmed no injuries have been reported as of 7:40 a.m. as thousands remain without power. Several roads are still closed in southern and central Mississippi as heavy rain is expected through Thursday afternoon.

Ahead of Francine’s landfall in Louisiana, Reeves declared a state of emergency to more efficiently deploy government resources to impacted areas of the state.

Francine struck as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday evening and subsequently weakened into a tropical storm. On Thursday morning, it was downgraded to a tropical depression.

The National Weather Service continues to issue flash flood watches and warnings throughout Mississippi. Keep up with the latest forecast here.
