The hope of republicans repealing the Affordable Care Act may be dead for now, but that’s not going to stop Governor Phil Bryant from spreading the gospel of repeal and replace.
In a statement issued to News Mississippi, Bryant said, “When I met the president he asked me personally for my help with repealing Obamacare and the legislation. I will continue assisting the Trump administration with repealing this failing program.
In February, Bryant was part of a Governor’s conference in Washington D.C., and while there, met with President Donald Trump and other state dignitaries.
Obamacare has been anything but a success in Mississippi with only 18,500 customers signed up as of December 2016, according to U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Across the country, the total number of those enrolled is down as well, with a total of 12.2 million people signing up for plans between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31. That’s a drop-off from the 12.7 million folks who enrolled at the close of the last open-enrollment season.
