A Mississippi woman stopped into Golden Corral with a buffet and chocolate fountain on her mind, but left with a bundle of joy in her arms.
Tayvia Woodfork was on her way home to Mississippi when she and her family made a pitstop at the restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Southaven native says she started feeling severe abdominal pain when she entered the restaurant and immediately went to the restroom.
In an interview with Fox 16, Woodfork explained that she didn’t even know she was pregnant. But what she believed to be cramps were actually contractions.
Her sister, Tameka, was called into the restroom. Tayvia told the Arkansas TV station her sister “went around and looked in the toilet. She said I ain’t never seen nothing like it. It’s a baby!”
The family was understandably shocked, along with Golden Corral and customers.
“They were clapping when she came out on the stretcher,” Tameka said.
They watched as the astonished mother and a healthy, six-pound baby boy exited the restaurant.
Woodfork experienced what is known as a cryptic pregnancy, a rare health condition that masks pregnancy symptoms from mothers – resulting in giving birth without even knowing they were carrying a child.
