Senatobia will soon be welcoming country singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood, known best for his patriotic anthem of “God Bless The U.S.A.”
Greenwood is scheduled to take the stage at the Heindl Center on the campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
While Greenwood is best known for “God Bless the U.S.A,” he has released more than 20 major-label studio albums and has put more than 35 singles on the Billboard country music charts. Other hits include “Star Spangled Banner” and “I.O.U.”
In addition to various awards including Male Vocalist of the Year in 1983, Greenwood has displayed his love of America through his role on the National Endowment of the Arts Council under former President George W. Bush and through the creation of the God Bless the U.S.A. Bible.
“Lee Greenwood has won multiple VMA and ACM Awards and a Grammy Award and had seven No. 1 hits,” Heindl Center director Dr. Blake Bostick said. “Known for his patriotism and support of the U.S. military, his standout hit, ‘God Bless The U.S.A,’ has been in the top five on the country singles charts three different times, making it the only song in any genre to achieve the feat.”
Joining Greenwood on stage will be another award-winning singer-songwriter in Bryan White. White, best known for “God Gave Me You” and “Someone Else’s Star,” has worked behind the scenes writing for other famous artists such as Wynonna Judd, LeeAnn Rimes, and Joe Diffie.
“If you’re proud to be an American, join us for a nostalgic night of great music with Lee Greenwood and special guest Bryan White,” Bostick continued.
