JACKSON, Miss.- Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill into law that will allow people to carry open containers of alcohol within entertainment districts, according to a report by WTOK.
The bill was known as the “to-go cup” law and it is goes into effect on July 1.
The law allows incorporated cities, towns, and villages who are covered in the bill to set boundaries that people within those boundaries may carry an open container of alcohol. These boundaries that are set will be considered entertainment districts.
Cities that are eligible to establish an entertainment district include: Hattiesburg, Tupelo, Holly Springs, Greenville, Greenwood, Canton, Grenada, Starkville, Water Valley, Jackson, Senatobia, and Corinth.
