JACKSON, Miss.- Organizations across Mississippi and the United States are constantly giving back 24/7, but Tuesday they want to take a moment to remind you to do the same.
Tuesday Nov. 29 has been deemed #GivingTuesday. After many have engaged of one of our cultures most consumer driven events, Black Friday, #GivingTuesday is all bout others. It is the globally celebrated day of giving back.
Thanks to social media the event has gained massive amounts of support all over the world with a call-to-action for people to donate money, time, and talent to a cause they feel passionate about. It also serves as the kick-off for the holiday and giving season.
“It’s important to give back all the time, you should always give more than you receive,” said Joanna Puddister King, Director of PR and Communications for Good Samaritan Center.
Mississippi has dozens of local and statewide organizations that can help you narrow down where to spend that money, time and talent. Many of them can be located through #GivingTuesday’s website.
“People can give back, by either donating cash, which most non-profits do love, you can also branch out and do a food drive, do a coat drive, do anything to give back on Giving Tuesday,” said King.
