JACKSON, Miss. – Love a good squirrel stew? Or how about fried squirrel and dumplings?
The Mississippi fall squirrel season starts Thursday and runs through February.
According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks, the critter populations should be be pretty good this year.
Chad Dekes is the Wildlife Bureau Director and says squirrel hunting is a good way to get kids and new comers into the joys of hunting and the outdoors.
The bag limit this year is eight squirrels per day and it’s recommended that anyone planning to hunt on public land, read the regulations on this years season.
