JACKSON, Miss. – Hundreds of alligator hunters are expected to be out on the waters this weekend as the official season for hunting gators kicked off yesterday at noon.
This year hunter permits sold out in a record time of 39 minutes and only 920 permits were sold.
The cost is $150, with an additional $25 alligator hunting license required.
“Each permit allows a person to take two alligators. They both have to be four feet long, but only one can exceed seven feet,” said Ricky Flynt, with the Miss. Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
The season will run through Monday, September 7th.
