To accommodate the postponement of the Allstate Sugar Bowl after a deadly truck attack in New Orleans, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl between Ole Miss and Duke is moving Thursday’s kickoff time back by about half an hour.
The Sugar Bowl, featuring No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 2 Georgia and originally set to be played inside Caesars Superdome on Wednesday night, was moved to Thursday at 3 p.m. CT due to the New Year’s Day act of terrorism took the lives of at least 15 and injured dozens. While Jacksonville, Fla., is a long way from the Big Easy, the games are both being aired on ESPN and to accommodate the TV network’s busy schedule, the Gator Bowl matchup between the Rebels and Blue Devils has been pushed from 6:30 p.m. CT to 7:05 p.m. CT.

No. 14 Ole Miss (9-3, 5-3 SEC) will look to reach the 10-win mark for the third time in four seasons under head coach Lane Kiffin’s guidance, while Duke (9-3, 5-3 ACC) will look to cap off one of its best seasons in recent history by reaching double digits in the win column for the first time since 2013. As of early Thursday afternoon, the Rebels were favored by 17.5 points.
