JACKSON, Miss.–With gas prices continuing to fall, Mississippians all around the state have been paying below $2 a gallon in the past couple of weeks. Now the state average may actually go that low.
The cheapest Monday morning was in Hattiesburg, with several stations at $1.75. But, gas under $2 has not been uncommon for about three or four weeks. The state average has been falling about a penny a night.
Monday morning the state average was at $2.01. If gas prices continue to fall the way they have been, the state average would be below $2 by Wednesday.
The website gasbuddy.com has Mississippi as tenth cheapest in the country as of Monday. The state with the cheapest gas is Missouri, with $1.85 on average.
