RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. – Investigators are trying to determine what blew up a gas line near the Ross Barnett Reservoir Wednesday morning.
Gulf South Pipeline confirmed the natural gas line explosion took place on it’s property east of the Reservoir before 6:30 a.m.
Company workers cut off the fuel and then snuffed the flames out just over an hour later. The explosion occurred in a wooded area and no nearby homes had to be evacuated; but some residents in the area said the power in the explosion rattled their homes.
A Gulf South spokesperson says the most visible damage was done to about an acre of trees.
