With the world returning to some sense of normalcy as vaccination efforts continue, the Mississippi State Medical Association is looking to honor all of those who stepped up throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
With its ‘2021 Healthcare Heroes Awards Gala,’ the organization will give “celebrate the commitment and dedication of individuals in healthcare, public service, and business.” While the medical professionals will certainly be at the forefront of the celebration, Dr. Jennifer Bryan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, explained that they were searching for a way to thank so many for their hard work in getting Mississippi through the healthcare crisis.
“We’re finally to a point where we can reflect back and say ‘you know, we really came through something.’ We want to celebrate the victories and the leadership and we want to recognize our partners in the community. There was so much more outside of medicine if you think about it. Think about the businesses that stepped up to manufacture hand sanitizer or PPE, the nurses, the EMTs, the elected officials, the school teachers, there are so many to honor,” she said.
Dr. Bryan encourages all Mississippians to nominate a person, a business or an organization that deserves recognition for their efforts over the past year. This can be done on the MSMA website or by contacting Amy Jones at ajones@msmaonline.com or 601.853.6733, ext. 322. Nominations will be accepted through July 1st.
The gala will take place at the Jackson Convention Complex on August 14th at 7:30 p.m.
