JACKSON, Miss.- Funeral service for Rose Cochran, U.S. Senator Thad Cochran’s wife, is today at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Jackson. There will be a 4 p.m. burial in New Albany.
Rose Cochran, 73, passed away Dec. 12 at a hospice facility in Ridgeland after a long battle with dementia.
U.S. Senator Thad Cochran, 77, issued a brief statement saying that he and his family are grateful to those who cared for his wife during her extended illness. She had lived in a nursing home for 13 years.
Cochran remained in Mississippi after Thanksgiving to spend time with his family and had returned to Washington on Monday to deal with the budget and other issues, senator’s spokesman, Chris Gallegos, said.
Mrs. Cochran married U.S. Senator Thad Cochran in 1964. They have two children.
