Bowie grew up in Rankin County and graduated from Pisgah High School before attending Southern Miss from 2008-2012. While a Golden Eagle, Bowie earned All-American titles in sprinting on three separate occasions.
After college, the Mississippi native took her talents to the largest global stage and won three medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, including gold in the 4x100m relay, silver in the 100 meters, and bronze in the 200 meters.
Bowie currently holds the distinction of being the last American female to win the 100-meters race on an international stage during the 2017 World Championships in London.
The cause of Bowie’s death has not been released at this time and her management agency is asking people to respect the family’s privacy.
