Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade wore a different type of stripes on Friday night.

The capital city’s top cop allowed his police force to handle business as he held a different leadership role. Wade donned a referee’s uniform to officiate the matchup between Callaway and Provine at Hughes Field.

No stranger to the gridiron, Wade has officiated football games for the past 14 years. Wade, a community servant at heart, deems his duties as a referee an opportunity to give back. As for Friday’s contest, Callaway emerged as a 39-0 victor over its Jackson Public School foe.
