On this episode of “From D2 to D3,” J.T. and legendary sportswriter Rick Cleveland reflect on the life of their late friend, Dave “Boo” Ferriss. Ferriss, who was born in Shaw in 1921, went on to break multiple MLB records with the Boston Red Sox before seeing his playing career cut short due to a shoulder injury. Following his playing days, Ferriss spent 26 years as the head baseball coach at Delta State retiring in 1988. In 2008, Cleveland penned a book on Ferriss’ incredible career called Boo: A Life in Baseball Well-Lived.
