Below Freezing Temps, Possible Snow Next Week

JACKSON, Miss. – Brace for some freezing temperatures, perhaps the coldest in several years.

After a weekend warm-up, rain and another cold front is expected to push across the state Sunday.  “Now it’s possible on the back side of this system that some of the precipitation along the Highway 82 Corridor, late Sunday, may mix with snow or briefly change to light snow. But we are not expecting any accumulation,” explained Meteorologist Mike Edmonston with the National Weather Service.

But that system will cause temperatures across the state to take a nose dive. Lows Monday morning could range between the low 20s and the teens.  “It looks like the coldest morning will be Tuesday,” said Edmonston.  “We may even see temperatures down from 11 to 15 degrees for much of the area.  But the daytime highs will not likely make it out of freezing North of I-20 Tuesday or Wednesday.”
